D-Day: June 6, 1944
The beginning of the Western Allied effort to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi occupation during World War II
Unfiled • June 6, 2008
Quick history lesson. On this day, 64 years ago, Allied forces began the invasion of Normandy that would lead to the liberation of Europe from the Nazi occupation. Please never forget what the men and women of our armed forces have done for us and are still doing for us.
When my wife and I traveled to New Orleans for our honeymoon in 2002, we made sure to visit the National World War II Museum. It was one of the best museums I have ever been to and it had so much information, galleries, and exhibits that it took hours to walk through. I still didn't have enough time to read and view all there was to see so I'm hoping to go back and visit again some day soon. I recommend that you do to.
